Tacos Are Delicious - update #7

We have made it safely to our first stop on the way to Cameroon. Washington D.C. is beautiful, and we are enjoying the hospitality of the Baxter family. Many thanks for the tacos! We'll sleep through the night, and fly out of Dulles airport in the morning. Our visas have been returned to us with no problems, so we are ready for Africa!

Gah! - update #5

As you may know, the federal government is well-known for its marvelous standard of efficiency, ranking high in customer service satisfaction. That's why it's SUCH A SURPRISE to find out that we're having problems processing our visas. I know, I know; it's hard to believe. When you have such a zenith of excellence displayed in such government-regulated agencies like the DMV and the Post Office, it seems incongruent with the problem we are facing.

Notwithstanding, the problem remains, and we need prayer for the expedited resolution of our problem. In laymen's terms, we want our government, the pinnacle-beacon of glorious freedom, to give us our passports back, along with the appropriate stamp-mark indicating our freedom to travel through the sovereign nation of Cameroon.

Here are the prayer highlights:

1. Pray that God would help the embassy to answer our phone calls.

2. Pray that God would put it on someone's heart to take care of this from start to finish (it's easy for the ball to drop when it's passing from person to person).

3. Pray that whatever parcel service they choose to ferry our passports will deliver them on time and in good order.

Other than that, we are in our final push to raise the last few pennies to make this trip happen! Pray that God supplies all our needs!

Many blessings,

The Team

Tic-tacs and Travel Dates - update #4

Woo-hoo! We have been under review for a grant from the girls med school (EVMS), and we're pleased to report that we've been approved for $2200! This will pay for all the medical supplies, kid's ministry supplies, and mosquito nets, with a few bucks left over for tic-tacs to make sure we have good breath during one-on-one prayer ministry. Praise God!

Just so everyone's up to speed, our travel dates are as follows:

July 11 - Leave for D.C.
July 12 - Fly out of D.C.
July 13 - Arrive in Douala, Cameroon
July 14 - Drive for 8 hours across bumpy African terrain to Fundong!

July 14-28 - Ministry in Fundong

July 28 - Drive for 8 hours across bumpy African terrain back to Douala!
July 29 - Fly out of Douala
July 30 - Arrive in D.C., drive home!

In other news, Eric and Philip have cancelled their benefit concert in order to devote more time to preparing for LOTS and LOTS of amazing ministry opportunities in Fundong. If you would still like to make a donation to help buy underwear for the kids, please contact a member of the team.

Peace!
