In only 720 hours, we will be boarding a plane headed for Fundong, Cameroon. Here is the latest breaking news:
We have secured tickets at $600 less than our target amount (that's a good thing). However, some members of our team still need a few bucks to make the trip. If you haven't given anything and you were planning on it, now is the time. Email or call any team member, and we'll direct you to who needs help the most.
We are stockpiling resources to bring with us to Cameroon. Pray that God connects us with: 1) Meds. 2) Mosquito nets. 3) AIDS testing kits. I am not exaggerating in any way to say that these resources will literally save the lives of the people who benefit from them. Pray hard people, pray hard.
Also, we are preparing material to give AIDS talks to kids and pastors. AWKWARD! We need some serious wisdom to communicate this in a way that, while very effective, is the least embarrassing for the kids. Just imagine teaching sex ed in 18'th century New England, and you'll have some idea of what we're up against.

No 'I' in TEAM - update #2

As many of you have heard, there is an apocalyptic epidemic sweeping the globe. It's called swine flu. This is another example of God's wisdom when it comes to the concept of 'clean' and 'unclean.' You'll never hear about an apocalyptic epidemic called lamb flu. It's just not going to happen.
Anyway, assuming that we're not all wiped out before July, five teammates (including myself) will embark on an intrepid journey to Fundong, Cameroon. I thought you might like to be introduced to them, one by one, so you can get an idea of the caliber of my team.
In alphabetical order by last name:
Kelsey Cecil -- By my standards, the most attractive member of the team, although I come in at a close second. Kelsey is a med student with a warm, endearing personality and a passion for the outcast. She wears American Eagle brand clothing and enjoys iced peppermint cream tea.
Christina Funari -- Organizational guru and token Italian. Also a med student, Christina has a vision for international medical reform and accessible healthcare for the world's poorest people. Upbeat and positive, she savors life like a fine penne.
Rachel Hassenpflug -- Shares a last name with the famous German statesman, Hans Daniel Ludwig Friedrich Hassenpflug. Making up the last of the three medical musketeers, Rachel has dreams of serving God overseas. She loves deep thinking and chick flicks.
Eric Ortiz -- Life-long fan of Chicago, Phil Collins, and Vanessa Carlton. As a student of authentic living, Eric often runs the risk of living a meaningful life. A thinker and encourager, he is the relational glue that holds the team together. Eric secretly wishes he was from Texas.
Philip Williams -- Takes second place as the most attractive person on the team. Philip plans to secede from the Union in the near future and annex Vermont in order to start a Puritan country. He enjoys dating attractive med students and going on short term mission trips.

Fundong - update #1
Cameroon – it’s a place of magical wonder, like Disney World. Except at Disney World there are fun things to do and plenty to eat. But other than that, it’s exactly the same.
We're going to Cameroon, as many of you already know. You know because we’ve asked you for money, and people usually remember that.
If you don’t remember us asking you for money, it’s either because we didn’t ask you, or you haven’t checked your facebook, email, or physical mailbox in a while. Or else, your heart is SO HARD that the Lord can’t break through. It’s ok… shed a few tears of repentance, and come to Jesus.
Seriously, if we haven’t asked you for money, but you’d like to support our trip, don’t tell us so. Just send cash. The Apostle John said, “Let us not love (give money) in word or tongue, but in action (in cash) and in truth (lots of cash).” I think you’re starting to get an idea of what the Apostle John was trying to say here. But seriously, let us know if you’d like to support our trip. Email someone you know, or leave us a comment telling us you'd like to be on board.
